Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

The Guru Granth Sahib, also known as the Adi Granth, is the sacred scripture (Gurbani) of Sikhism. It consists of 1430 Angs and was compiled and composed during the era of the Sikh gurus, spanning from 1469 to 1708. This revered text is a compilation of hymns (shabad) or baani that elaborate on the divine attributes and the significance of meditation on God's name. Guru Gobind Singh (1666–1708), the tenth guru, endorsed the Adi Granth as his spiritual successor, thereby affording it the status of Guru Granth Sahib. It continues to serve as the primary scripture of the Sikhs, embodying the teachings of the Ten Gurus. The Adi Granth plays a fundamental role as a spiritual source and guide in Sikh worship practices.

The Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji includes baani authored by various Bhat Sahibs and Bhagats. Some of the prominent Nitnem Baanis derived from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are Sukhmani Sahib, Japuji Sahib, Anand Sahib, Rehras Sahib, and Kirtan Sohila. The baani is structured in 31 raags.
